The new picture gallery in the Doge’s Palace: restoration of the Sala dei Cuoi

Sala_Cuoi
As soon as we enter the Sala dei Cuoi in the Doge’s Palace, we are struck by the leather wall coverings, a veritable universe of shapes created freehand by Venetian craftsmen, probably in the seventeenth century.

Thanks to the maintenance work carried out in October, it is now possible to appreciate the beauty of these relief designs in gold on a red ground, as well as the reflections of light on them.

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the painstaking work undertaken by the restorers involved in the project.
